I was really in a baking mood yesterday, and since I gave up sweets for Lent, I decided to spend all afternoon baking sweets for my fur babies. (What is my life coming to?)
These homemade treats were super easy to make, and of course, Winston and Lucy loved them! I researched several homemade recipes before coming up with my own while making sure all ingredients were safe! However, I would still recommend making sure your doggie isn’t sensitive to any of the ingredients below. 🙂
Thankfully, my dogs don’t have any crazy allergies so I knew these ingredients would be fine. I just wasn’t 100% sure about any wheat allergies, so I stuck to all purpose flour just in case!
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups of all purpose flour
1 egg
1 mashed banana
1 tablespoon of honey
1/2 cup of peanut butter
1 cup of water
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Mix all ingredients in mixing bowl
- Roll out dough 1/4 inch thick and use dog bone cookie cutter. (I got mine from Walmart for 75 cents!)
- Bake for 15-20 minutes and glaze with honey when finished
Apparently giving honey to your pups every once in awhile is good for their allergies and digestive system! A word of advice, if you’re going to use honey glaze, pop them in the freezer asap to dry. They took a long time to dry which made storing them difficult. The glaze was a last minute decision I decided to try and I’m happy I only did half the batch this way.
