Now that I’ve moved away and am back living with my parents temporarily, I’ve grown to really love and appreciate living in the country. Summer evenings are always spent in my backyard with family, and this Labor Day was the perfect opportunity to have friends over for some appetizers before heading to a local winery.
Since this was planned last minute, I got everything together in about 3 hours. I ran to our local garden center and picked up these adorable succulents and $1 ceramic pots. Succulents are my favorite because 1. they are obviously adorable, and 2. they require very little maintenance (which is perfect for me).
Living in a small town makes it tough to find a cute table runner so I decided to make my own. I went Jo-Ann Fabric and bought a large piece of geometric patterned fabric, then cut strings in the sides and fringed them with the edge of a scissor blade.
My mom happened to already have lights strung in our apple trees, so we just moved the patio furniture under the lights. It ended up making the set-up so much cuter!
One of my girlfriends said she’d bring a meat and cheese tray, so I decided to make this bruschetta recipe that took no more than 20 minutes to throw together. For how easy it was to make, I can’t believe how well it turned out. Great summer app!
Since we were heading to the winery after apps, I chose raspberries and bubbly for a cheap and easy cocktail.
It ended up being a perfect night to celebrate the last official weekend of summer.
Cheers!
Thank you for the beautiful photos, Emma Tembreull.

What a fun night! I wish it would cool off enough in Florida to do something like this.
